As homes and workplaces across the UK fall silent for two minutes today to mark Armistice Day, Macclesfield will lead its own ceremony on Sunday to honour the memory of those who gave their lives to protect peace across Europe in the First World War.
Starting from 10:20am on Sunday 14th November, a parade will assemble behind the town hall, marching towards the front of the town hall at 10:35am, where they will be greeted by the Mayor of Macclesfield, MP David Rutley, the civic party and a local choir.
Local families are invited to gather at the Park Green cenotaph at 10:40am to observe a two minute silence at 11am and lay wreaths at the memorial.
A Remembrance Day service will follow from 11:10am.
