Saturday 5 March 2011 – Kick Off 2.30.pm.
LAUNCESTON V. MACCLESFIELD
Macclesfield make the long trip to Cornwall on Friday evening as they face Launceston for the second time this season following their convincing 36-7 victory at Priory Park back in October.
The Cornish All Blacks are having a tough time this season having initially been docked 20 points for going into administration and they presently support the rest of the table with 6 victories, 1 draw and 14 defeats from their 21 games and they are still 14 points adrift of the next side above them – Otley!!. Whilst relegation threatens they will be dangerous on their own midden.
However, after the Otley experience the Blues should have absolutely no complacency and I expect to see them leap straight back to form but they must beware of the CAB’s Centre Ryan Westren who already has 12 tries to his credit and is in the leading scorers group for National One.
Their victories have come over Cinderford (twice), Redruth, Sedgley Park, Wharfedale and tellingly Otley with a draw against Tynedale. Many of their defeats have been by close scores so I am certain that our coaching team will leave the Blues in little doubt that despite their perilous league position they will not lie down at home.
Macclesfield will look at the fitness of Chris Townsend who missed the Otley game and hopefully Ed Sayce, who missed the Otley trip, will be available again.
Launceston play at Polson Bridge, Launceston PL15 9QT
