Saturday 30th October 2010 Kick-off 3pm
Macclesfield v Launceston (Cornish All Blacks)
Next weekend Launceston are the visitors to Priory Park in National League One. Both sides will be looking to bounce back after defeats to Cambridge and Wharfedale respectively last time out.
The Blues were beaten 43-24 in a high scoring encounter in the Yorkshire dales, and Launceston were edged out 20-21 by highflying Cambridge. It’s been a contrasting start to the season for both sides, Macc have made a solid start and recorded some impressive victories whereas Launceston sit bottom of the table due to issues off the field rather than on it.
The All Blacks entered into voluntary liquidation at the beginning of the season and due to league rules suffered a twenty-point deduction. Though it has taken them just seven games to overhaul the point’s penalty and now they can firmly focus on survival.
Macclesfield will be well aware of the threat posed by the opposition and will not take them lightly. The defeat at Wharfedale may have come as a surprise and the team will be looking to put it behind them with victory at the weekend.
In terms of injuries Macc will still be without long-term absentee’s Tony Howcroft and Chris Jones, Charlie Mulchrone was injured on Saturday but should recover in time for the weekend. There will be decisions to be made about the back line with a number of players pushing for a starting place.
This should prove to be a fantastic encounter between two equally matched sides so pleased head down to Priory park to show your support for the team.
