People in Macclesfield who drop litter or fail to clean up after their dogs could face instant fines of up to £75 under new laws aiming to clean up the streets of Macclesfield.
Police Community Support Officers are currently being trained to issue spot fines of £75 for littering and £50 for dog fouling under new 'zero-tolerance' powers granted by Cheshire East Council.
The introduction of the new policy is the latest attempt to answer calls by local Macclesfield residents to reduce littering within the city and a force of 67 PCSO's will be tasked with enforcing the new rules over the Summer.
