A care home in Macclesfield is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day and the launch of its sensory garden.
On Friday 28th June, from 1pm-3pm, the team at Hollins Park, on Victoria Road, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s celebration at Hollins Park is a garden party to unveil the home’s new sensory garden, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to a tour of the new garden, which has been created by volunteers, residents, and team members. Gardening and spending time outdoors is incredibly important in encouraging residents’ mental and physical wellbeing, and helps to create meaningful experiences. Visitors can also enjoy a high tea, including tasty sandwiches and cakes.
Tracy Norbury, home manager at Hollins Park, said: “Everyone at Hollins Park is getting excited for our Care Home Open Day event – it’s always great to see new faces visiting our home, as well as welcoming old friends, and I know this year will be just the same.
“The residents are really looking forward to our garden party celebration and showcasing our new sensory garden for all our visitors to enjoy.”
As part of a nationwide competition across Care UK homes, Hollins Park will be developing a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which will be showcased at the event.
