NEW BUSINESSES CREATE JOBS AND KEEP STRETFORD SHOPPERS LOOKING GOOD

TWO new businesses in Stretford are creating four new jobs for the area while making sure shoppers are looking good.

Classy Nails and Beauty has opened its doors at Stretford Mall offering manicures, pedicures, waxes, tints and tattoos while fellow new venture Future Cuts is bringing some flair to the hair of its customers.

Both businesses opened their doors officially at the start of the month to make the most of the busy summer season to get their stores up and running.

For Nga Ho, owner of Classy Nails, the opening at Stretford Mall marks the next stage in a 12-year career as a beautician and the third of her chain of businesses.

She said: “I’m really excited and really proud of my business. I have spent a lot of money on the unit here in Stretford but so many people have already been asking when we’re opening and what we’ll be doing that I know it is going to go well.

“There is nothing else like it here and we will offer everything – facial waxing and tattoos, eyelash tints, manicures and pedicures, acrylics.

“I will be taking on four members of staff at the store and at the moment we’re really busy especially with pedicures as that always gets busier in the summer.

“The rest of the time the Shellac nails are the biggest seller at the moment as everyone likes them.”

Nga, known as Nadia, came to Manchester from Vietnam 15 years ago when she married a local man and the couple now have four children, two girls and two boys.

The 38-year-old said: “My eldest daughter is eight and she loves all the beauty stuff. She always wants me to do it for her but it’s not allowed for school.”

With two units already running at the Manchester Arndale Centre, Nga is confident that her new branch will continue to flourish just as the other have.

The family live in the city centre and the new business will be open seven days a week and until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Just round the corner from Nga, Jermaine Stewart has been eagerly welcoming new customers to his barber shop Future Cuts, since opening his doors on August 3.

The 41-year-old said: “It’s going well. I know the business is needed in the area as the people round here supported me where we were based before and I know they will continue to support me here.”

The Jamaican stylist moved to the UK five years ago after meeting Jennifer, who is now his wife, while she was on holiday in the Caribbean. He later worked as a barber in Middleton, Moss Side, Manchester city centre and Altrincham.

After establishing a successful barbers on Mitford Street, Jermaine jumped at the opportunity to take on a larger unit within Stretford Mall, next to Pure Gym.

Jermaine, who has brought a member of staff with him from his previous salon, said: “I have been cutting hair for 23 years now so can do all types and all styles - my motto is ‘A job worth doing is worth doing well’.

“But I needed to make some changes and thought I might need more space, which is why I decided to move into the mall.”

Future Cuts can style men and boys of all styles and hair types and is open from 10am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, with appointments not necessary.

Appointments are not always needed at Classy Nails and Beauty, but anyone who wants to book can call 0161 637 7240.
