Chetham’s Library was founded in 1653 and is the oldest public library in the English-speaking world. We are an independent charity and the vast collection that we care for has been designated as having national and international importance.
As part of this year's National Lottery Open Week, the library is throwing open its doors and inviting you to join us for an afternoon of behind-the-scenes workshops and sessions.
Visitors can learn more about the library's history, encounter items from our collections, and discover how we care for them and preserve them for future generations.
The event runs from 2pm until 4pm with two timed entries at 2pm and 3pm.
