A really lovely, friendly shop. So much experience and a shop we are so lucky to have here in Market Harborough. They sell lots of wine and regularly undertake wine and beer tasting sessions. Personally I love German beers and they sell the amazing Aylinger, Tergenseer Spezial and Jever. They also sell the Swiss Stiegl Goldbraü and Hells which are both beautiful, plus local Braybrooke lagers which are really unique and brewed to the German Reinheitsgebot purity laws. I've also bought Samuel Smith and Arbor beers here. There's so much going on and the chaps are so helpful with their advice and will try and order beers that aren't present. 10/10.

Thoroughly enjoyed the level 1 WSET course run by Duncan Murray Wines. The day was informative and interactive, whilst also being a lot of fun. Nick as a facilitator was excellent, bringing the content to life and encouraging discussion from the course attendees. I will definitely be looking to book level 2 with Duncan Murray and Nick in the coming future.

We have now attended both the WSET (Wine and spirits education trust) 1 and 2 courses delivered by Nick of Duncan Murray wines. Even though we were fairly ‘wine literate’ before attending them, the courses have been a very worthwhile experience for us both. WSET1 is a one-day course with a multiple-choice exam at the end of day, WSET2 is a 3 day course with an expectation that you do some (theoretical) homework with an similar but longer and, naturally, more demanding exam at the end of the third day. Both courses are theoretical with formal taught content but there is plenty of practice and opportunity to apply the theory: the WSEST2 course includes the tasting of over 40 wines chosen to emphasis and reinforce the ‘theory’. The WESET1 course is an introduction to wine and wine tasting. It really whetted our appetite and carry on to the WESET2 course. While WESET2 repeats a little material it is a lot more involved in both depth and breadth. We learned a great deal in a very pleasant environment. There is indeed something slightly surreal at arriving at an English village hall early on a springtime Saturday morning to meet a group of ‘fellow travellers’ for the first time knowing that by late afternoon you will have tasted over a dozen interesting wines from around the world. And then to emerge into the afternoon spring sunshine (yes the sun did shine) and realise that you HAD tasted graphite in one wine, granite stone in another and that ‘smelling of forest floor and farmyard’ is a compliment when applied to wine. The courses gave us a sound ‘scaffold’ on which to further build our knowledge and appreciation of wine. The scaffold helped us ‘made sense’ of what we knew already about wine, connected seemingly random wine facts we had garnered over the years and gave us tools to think about wine, what we can expect to taste and to think about what we are tasting. Loved doing my WSET2 course with Nick from Duncan Murray’s. Great fun learning about so many wines. Such an eye opener - a few faves in the photos. Nick was hugely knowledgeable.
Try the shop too it’s a treasure trove of loveliness!

We’re lucky to have Duncan Murray Wines close by. Saturday tastings and general recommendations are always great. They’re also accredited WSET level 1 and 2 course providers. I’ve just completed level 2 and it was the most enjoyable course i’ve ever done. I’m missing tasting so many wines now the course is over! Nick, our teacher, was great fun and guided us through how to use the systematic approach to tasting wines and all the learning about winemaking, styles, grapes etc. Thoroughly recommended to anyone who enjoys wine and is interested to learn more. Huge thanks, Nick!

Great tasting session, lots of fun and educational as well 🤣 Every wine was lovely, some to my taste, others not but all were quality! The cheese, meats, nuts, bread were fantastic! Service was brilliant, nothing too much trouble and a smile and a joke. I’d recommend this to my friends and family 😁

On a cool spring Saturday afternoon we wandered into Duncan Murray’s wines during one of many down pours. We were just curious. The elitism of these kinds of shops often puts me off, feeling as if I have to have at least a degree in wine and the tasting of them to qualify even opening the door.
The surprise hit me when we opened this door: the atmosphere was buzzing and we were greeted with “do you want to taste some wine?” The guys working here while looking more as if they belong behind the counter at an auto parts shop, are friendly and welcoming, willing to chat about what wine goes best with what occasion or food, and know their wines and regions well.
The beer ‘wall’ to my utter delight also has a shelf dedicated to gluten-free beers!
We left having bought a bottle of Nero di Avola and feeling confirmed in our decision that Market Harborough is indeed the best place for us to settle. I’m in no doubt that we will be frequent shoppers at Duncan Murray’s Wines.
