Duncan Murray of Duncan Murray Wines, Adam & Eve Street, Market Harborough will be making his TV debut on Channel 4’s “Come Dine With Me” during the Leicestershire round of the show due to be aired next week.
For the uninitiated, “Come Dine With Me” sees five cooks hosting a dinner party at their home. The contestants then award each other marks out of 10 and the host with the most points at the end of the week wins £1,000. Sounds pretty straightforward, but along the way there are usually culinary mishaps, personality clashes and all manner of high jinx; a formula which has made the programme cult viewing.
Each episode shows one cook shopping, cooking, preparing their home and eventually entertaining their guests. Duncan Murray Wines was selected by contestant, Stephanie Heimer as one of her favourite shopping spots and so on her day, she popped into Duncan Murray’s to buy her wine and beer for the evening; a selection that took her guests through from the welcome drink to the pudding.
“The wine went down really well,” said Stephanie, “my guests said how much they’d enjoyed it.”
Eagle-eyed viewers will also have a chance to see the shop during “insights” into Stephanie’s views on dinner parties and the unveiling of the first night’s menu as lengthy filming took place at Duncan Murray Wines on the Monday leading up to the first dinner party. Since the filming, colleagues, friends and family of Duncan Murray have been doing everything in their power to keep his ego in check; however, as Duncan says: “If you want my autograph, you’ll have to form an orderly queue outside my trailer. I’m in make up!”
The Leicestershire edition of “Come Dine With Me” will be shown from Monday 7 September to Friday 11 September on Channel 4 from 5.30pm – 6pm. Stephanie’s dinner party is on Friday 11 September.
