Duncan Murray Wines of Adam & Eve Street and The Royal Bengal, St Mary’s Road have teamed up to bring the restaurant’s customers inspired food and wine pairings. The two local businesses raised a glass to their new alliance at an evening of fine food and wine on Wednesday 31st March, which also raised £165 for local charity, Hopscotch Kidney Fund for Children.

The joint venture came about as regular diners at The Royal Bengal were keen to try wines that go especially well with spicy food and suggested approaching Duncan Murray Wines. Ever keen to give diners the best taste experience, restaurant manager Sad Uddin was eager to benefit from Duncan Murray’s advice. As Sad pointed out, “I’m sure that more of our customers would drink wine with their meal if they were confident it would go, but it’s quite difficult to team wine up with spicy food. That’s why we wanted Duncan’s help.”

Duncan introduced his choices at the fine food and wine evening and lucky ticket holders enjoyed a feast of home-cooked dishes and the specially selected wines – complete with tasting notes. The generous diners also donated £165 to the Hopscotch Kidney Fund for Children: a local charity dedicated to supporting children with kidney disease by providing as many fun events and activities for those children as possible.

The most ‘spice-friendly’ wines will be appearing on the Royal Bengal’s wine list soon. In the meantime, wine lovers are always welcome to join Duncan Murray Wines free Saturday tastings. The tastings take place in the shop at 10 Adam & Eve Street, Market Harborough, every Saturday 12.00pm – 3.00pm.
