Following the success of last yearâs Family Open day, the police in Market Harborough are holding another event.
Members of the public are welcome to come along to the police station on Fairfield Road in Market Harborough on Saturday August 31, 2013, from 11am to 3pm. Visitors will be able to take a look around the cells; sit in a police car; and dress up in police uniform and equipment. Neighbourhood Watch and the Harborough District Community Safety Partnership will also have a stall offering crime prevention advice.
Other attractions on the day will include:
• Find out about becoming a Special Constable • Find out about becoming a Police Support Volunteer • Meet members of the Harborough District Community Safety Partnership
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service will have a fire engine in the car park to explore and there will be small fair rides for young children.
Visitors are also being encouraged to bring along their mobile phones and sign up to Immobilise - the free secure UK National Property Registration scheme.
Inspector Paul McKinder, Commander of Market Harborough local policing unit, said; “We’d welcome people of all ages to come along, meet their local officers and have a look around the police station, including the cells.
“This is the second year that we have held an open day and we want to give people a better understanding of what officers do, to build on our already strong links with the community.
“I am really pleased that a number of other agencies are keen to join us too. I hope lots of people will come along and have a great time. We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday 31st.”
