Officers from the Force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a collision in Husbands Bosworth at the weekend.
The incident happened at about 12:45pm on Saturday December 4, on the A4304 Kilworth Road, near to the junction with the A5199 Welford Road.
The collision involved three vehicles, a black Ford Focus Zetec, a Red Volvo S80 and a third unknown vehicle.
Both the driver of the Focus, Mr Dean Roy Spalding (27) of Lutterworth, and the passenger of the Volvo, Mrs Rudolfne Meszaros (27) of Measham, received fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and second passenger from the Volvo received serious injuries and were taken to the University hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire. Conditions for both of them are currently described as stable.
The third passenger from the Volvo received minor injuries and was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital as a precaution. They have since been discharged.
The driver of the third vehicle, unknown, failed to stop at the scene.
DC Nick Bryan, the investigating officer, said: “It is believed that the third vehicle was travelling in front of the Volvo at the time of the collision and continued on towards Lutterworth. We are appealing for anyone who has information about this collision, in particular the third vehicle and driver, to contact us as soon as they can.
“Police believe that there may have been a number of cars, in particular a small silver hatchback, that passed through the area before police arrived. They would like to urge those drivers and passengers to contact them as soon as they possibly can.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and quote incident 418 04/12/10
