Peter Jackson is at it again. Normally with a trilogy or series it is a worry if the second part can reach the heights of the first instalment and with this you will definitely not be disappointed.
The first film was a little bitter sweet for me, there were far too many tangents away from the book and I found it was a little cheesy in parts, but I still really enjoyed it and the beginning was extremely unexpected. You will not however find too much to complain about with this film at all! There's loads of excitement and action, the plot thickens and we meet Smaug for the first time. Very impressive CGI and only one part was a little to OTT for me, I'll let you guess which I thought this was....
Overall I would say this instalment is better than the first by a fair way, not just for the plot but for the fact that it was filmed with more frames per second meaning the 3D screenings are not constantly blurry and trying to catch up. I hope this helps make your mind up, it's worth a cinema trip.
