First Family Entertainment and Milton Keynes Theatre are thrilled to announce that Priscilla Presley will be starring in this year’s dazzling family pantomime –Aladdin.
Priscilla Presley, Hollywood royalty, TV icon and, yes, wife of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, will be making wishes come true by bringing all the magic of the Christmas season to life as the Genie of the Lamp in the most spectacular pantomime on this side of the pond!
Priscilla, who is best known for co-starring with Leslie Nielsen in the Naked Gun film series and for her role as Jenna Wade in Dallas - the most successful primetime soap opera ever - says: “I’ve done some amazing things in my career but, three years ago, I was introduced to the crazy world of pantomime and I can honestly say it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. My grandchildren absolutely loved seeing me on stage and I can’t wait to get out in front of a live audience again. It’s such a wonderful honour to be spending Christmas here and being part of this very special British festive tradition”. ’
Aladdin is seasonal family entertainment at its best. The exotic setting in Old Peking is home to all the much-loved characters you could hope to meet in a Christmas show. Take Widow Twankey – please. Proprietor of the local Chinese laundry, this Dame is something to behold. And played by actor, comedian and national treasure Gary Wilmot, you can guarantee that it will all come out well in the wash.
Magic is what theatre is all about and, when it comes to the story of Aladdin, there’s plenty more enchantment in store. Wayne Sleep OBE, dancer, choreographer, actor and director, can now add ‘Genie (of the Ring)’ to his list of credits. Wayne, who last performed here in Cabaret a few years ago, is delighted to be returning to the stage of Milton Keynes Theatre.
You can’t have Aladdin without ‘a lad in’ the show who will cause hearts to melt and send tingles down the spine. Singer/songwriter and former A1 boyband member Ben Adams will be climbing aboard the magic carpet as the eponymous hero, Aladdin! Hooray!
Silliness is a vital part of any pantomime – which is why Milton Keynes Theatre couldn’t resist welcoming back the world’s most famous ex-pat Armenian comedian, Kev Orkian, as Aladdin’s cheeky (and, according to him, better-looking) brother Wishee-Washee!
Add to that amazing stellar line-up sensational songs played by a live band, dazzling dance routines, hilarious slapstick comedy and bags of audience participation, plus the magnificent sets and costumes Milton Keynes Theatre is famous for and what have you got? The best pantomime in the whole new world – oh yes it is!
