The New MK 1 Leisure Park is nearing completion, and the first restaurant Pizza Express has opened. So at the Bestof Milton Keynes we thought we would give it a try.

We received a warm welcome from our server Fabrizio as he showed us to our table. He took our drinks order and talked us through the current specials they had to offer, and also highlighted some of the recommended dishes on the main menu.

To start I had Bruschetta Con Funghi (Mushrooms in Béchamel sauce) and my Wife had the Leggera Gamberetti Piccante (Prawns in a rich delicious sauce).

For mains my wife went for the Diavolo Pizza, whilst on Fabrizio's recommendation I opted for the Calabrese Pizza, which was spicy but not overpowering so you could taste the other fresh ingredients. The two empty plates at the end tell their own story.

For Dessert my Wife chose the Honeycomb cream slice, and again on our servers recommendation I had the Vanilla Cheesecake with Berry coulis, again both polished of in double quick time. (Extra-long walk with the dogs now on Sunday)

So the fresh new Pizza Express has arrived at MK1, and you really get the feeling that the staff our out to impress and make your visit an enjoyable experience

The restaurant itself has great atmosphere and plenty of friendly staff on hand. The location just next the Stadium MK is very accessible, just off the A5 with plenty of parking. It will be ideal for shoppers at the retail park, or pre or post match dining for visitors to the Stadium.

The new restaurant, which can seat 162, means jobs for 40 new team members including ten pizzaiolos and 30 waiters and waitresses. An estimated 1,500 kilos of dough will be used in the first month as the team prepares to serve up 5,000 pizzas and 3,000 portions of PizzaExpress’ iconic Dough Balls.

Manager Cat Devlin said, “We will have a beautiful new restaurant and can’t wait to show it off to our customers. We have a friendly and enthusiastic team who are looking forward to welcoming everyone over a delicious pizza.”

PizzaExpress has just launched its new Autumn menu including three new pizzas and a mouth-watering calzone as well as two low-calorie Leggera dishes. Along with new starters and four tempting desserts, the Autumn menu also sees the return of cheesy Dough Balls. New drinks are also joining the menu including Bollinger Champagne.

For younger pizza-lovers, PizzaExpress’ Piccolo menu is full of tasty choices including ‘Create Your Own’ pizza, and starts at just £3.50. And for budding chefs looking to celebrate a birthday, a Pizza Making Party will see them transformed into pizzaiolos so they can stretch, toss and top their own pizza and play party games before sitting down to enjoy their culinary creations.
