Visited Pin-Petch in Newport Pagnall yesterday lunchtime for the first time, and received a very warm welcome from George the owner. As was early in the lunchtime session George had time to sit down and recall some of his experiences during a long career in catering, a very interesting man.
We chose from the lunchtime 2 course special menu @ £7.50, mixed starter and then I had the chicken chilli, beware this is not for the faint hearted (1 course £5, 50, 3 courses £9.95 are also available). The food was tasty, hot and plentiful, and the ambience in the restaurant just right for a lunchtime.
If you have not tried Thai food before the lunch time special menu it is an ideal opportunity to give it a go, and I am pretty sure you will be back to try out the full range of Thai dishes, either at lunchtime or in the evening.
The Pin-Petch is housed in an early Grade 2 listed, Victorian building, formally the historic Odell’s Ironmongers, and some of the original behind the counter shelving is still in place giving the restaurant a unique character.
