Monday 15 th April saw Mandi Rugen-Hankey from Archenfield Insurance Management Ltd pick up a cheque for £2,500 as winners of Aviva's Community Brokers fund.
Mandi, one of Archenfield's directors explains. " Every year for the past three years Aviva has made £150,000 available for community groups. This money is awarded to groups nominated through insurance brokers across the country. When I received the email letting us know this money was available, I had to apply although I have to say it was no easy task. However I am thrilled that we were one of the winnners and am delighted that Monmouth's only scout group, 1st Wyesham will benefit. We are planning to buy high vis jackets so we can take our scouts on night hikes and to replace one of our tents so that we do not have the wet nights that we had to suffer last year.
" As commmunity brokers it is is great to be able to access these kinds of funds to help our commmunity. The way the funds are divided amongst the winners is down to Aviva and obviously a hospice for children will receive more monetary benefit than the scouts but that is fair and £2,500 is a very welcome addition to our scouts funds.
"I chose to apply on behalf of the scouts as I volunteer with them but next year i would be happy to apply on behalf of another community group in Monmouth."
Talk to Mandi if you would like her to put forward an application on behalf of your community group for next year.
