Monmouth School is HMC boys' boarding and day school of 700 pupils in Monmouth, Monmouthshire in southeast Wales. Founded in 1614 by William Jones, a prominent merchant and Haberdasher, Monmouth School is run as a trust, the William Jones's Schools Foundation, by the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, one of the 'great twelve' Livery Companies.
Monmouth School is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic and energetic Director of Development to establish a development function that will oversee all giving and alumni relationships. The main objective will be to broaden fee support provision as well as raise funds for capital projects. The Board of Governors and Head are committed to a long-term approach, commensurate with 'best practice' within the sector. In time, it is anticipated that Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls will become an integral part of the development programme, so there is significant scope for this role to grow.
Reporting to the Headmaster, Dr Steven Connors, the Development Director will be a member of the Senior Management Team. He/she will work with the existing alumni administrator who maintains a database of over 3,000 alumni with a view to integrating alumni relations within the Development Office in due course. This may be a role suitable to someone who has transferrable skills, or who has played a secondary role in an educational development office elsewhere and who now seeks to extend his/her development career. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and will be competitive within the sector.
