Originally founded in 1068 the castle was the birthplace of King Henry V in 1387.It is one of the few British castles still in possession of the military.Part of it houses a museum dedicated to the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia), while the King's Garden is planted with herbs, as it would have been in Henry V's time.
