Fashion students at Newark College are being given the opportunity to showcase their designs to the general public. Popular clothing shop Gente Bella in Newark’s Buttermarket is working with Newark College to offer some valuable window space to fashion students for a fortnight. Customers will judge the best windows based on imagination and styling. And to make the opportunity even better, famous fashion brand Joules have offered a prize to the winning student of a week’s work experience at their head office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
Newark shoppers are invited to view the windows from Monday 5th March for two weeks and pop into the shop to vote.
Heather Codd, who teaches the Fashion Promotion unit organised the competition for the second year students.
She said “It gives the students the chance to put the theory they have learnt into practice in a professional environment. They are able to demonstrate their innovative designs and the winner will have the chance to build professional working relationships; an essential for the future.”
