Cole & Son have been printing wallpapers for almost 200 years, with skilled craftsmen creating hand-printed wallpapers using traditional techniques. Designs are taken, adapted or inspired by their own archive of original period patterns that have been carefully collected for more than three centuries.
Their wallpapers remain faithful to the character of the original reference yet are contemporary in feel and look, bringing a rich, powerful design heritage into the modern home. If you’re looking for something to really make a statement in your home, then look no further than the sophisticated wallpapers produced by Cole & Son.
Particularly eye-catching is the Abermarle collection. It is named for the notorious 1874 London private members’ club, of which Oscar Wilde and the Marquess of Queensberry were members.
The stunning wallpapers evoke elements of this romantic, poetic and bohemian era. Nine designs comprise the collection named for either key figures at the time (Byron, Coleridge, Baudelaire etc.) or London places and icons (Piccadilly, Aldwych etc.).
These amazing wallpapers combine key decorating elements from the mid-19th Century, such as burnishing and gilding with gold and other precious metals, feathered plumes, botanicals and rich damasks. All have taken inspiration from original archived designs but have been reinvented to enhance our modern interiors.
Perhaps most striking is the Albery wallpaper, which emulates antique beveled mirrors and is available in six beautiful, burnished metal colourways. Guaranteed to be a talking point in your home for many years to come.
The Cole and Son wallpapers really have to seen to be appreciated, and everyone is very welcome to view them, just give your friendly interior designer a call!
