Robin Hood at Newark Castle for Bank Holiday
29th May 2010

This sounds like a fabulous day out for the whole family especially if you want to escape 21st century and go back in time. Newark Castle is just wonderful on its own but if you visit on Monday Bank Holiday you will find archery demonstrations, sword fighting, music and minstrels, jesters, Medieval re-enactment, storytelling, children's flag making, falconry displays, living history displays, face painting, hog roast and light refreshments, Robin Hood and light refreshments.

In the evening 7pm - 9pm The Robin Hood Theatre Company presents Tied Up In Notts (Newark Edition) a FREE outdoor theatre performance. This promises to be a wonderful evening of music, comedy, verse and moving narrative. Again ideal for the whole family. The Theatre Company will take an irreverent and sometimes poignant trip through our glorious county with a predominantly Newark and Sherwood flavour. They will touch on the brooding and defiant Lord Byron, World War ll and Ransome and Marle, The Sherwood Foresters, The Bramley Apple and some bloke called Robin Hood.

Milestone Brewery will provide Robin Hood ales. Also wine and soft drinks will be available for the evening performance so I am told.

If the weather is as good as promised then this should be a 'cracking' day out.
