Lilly Through the Dark
This is a lovely show, and a great one for Tim Burton fans of all ages. There are four performers and one puppet in the show, Lilly. Lilly is beautifully made and the performers animate her amazingly, she is so expressive and comes to life on stage. It is a wonderful show, the story is easy to follow and very visual. The set is constructed out of old crumbling books with many nook and crannies to hide props, a willow tree, a river and several performers, all emerging from different parts.
Lilly Through the Dark is a magical and gothic folk tale, based on real events. Lilly is a little girl who loses her father. She is stalked in the waking world by shadows and memories, until she makes the decision to go searching for him in the land of the dead where she comes face to face with a whole host of weird and wonderful characters. An intimate and thought-provoking story of one girl's journey that explores death and the processes of grief.
The River People tell this beautiful tale using their own dark style of puppetry, live music and poetic language in their visually expressive style.
