At the end of March, Newbury will witness an important gathering of companies and business people in support of a planned Work and Careers Fair, aimed at the residents of Newbury and West Berkshire.
Brought together under the direction of the West Berkshire Skills and Enterprise Partnership, this event promises to be the largest of its kind staged locally and will be aimed at jobseekers of all ages and all backgrounds.
This event is not just for school leavers and those on job seekers allowance, it is a perfect opportunity for local people of all backgrounds and skill sets, to discover what employment opportunities currently exist amongst leading local employers. The Work and Careers Fair will bring together a minimum of 40 businesses from a wide range of sectors who are actively recruiting, many of whom are well-known brands and high street names. It will present jobseekers with the opportunity to find out what vacancies are on offer and hopefully open their eyes to career paths they may not have previously considered. Added to which, a comprehensive program of workshops and seminars will be taking place throughout the day, helping people to learn some hints and tips and valuable insights on how to be a better job applicant and what employers are looking for in the ideal candidate today.
The evewnt is being supported by local MP Ricahrd Benyon who commented "Clearly the objective of the fair is to provide any job seeker more than one way to benefit from coming along. As someone who is passionate about finding new ways to engage local businesses with local employers, in order to get people back into work, I am very pleased to be lending my support to this important event for the local community. I look forward to speaking on the day and want to encourage local businesses to get involved if they can and local Newbury people to go along on the day and take full advantage of this opportunity which is free to all."
The event will take place on Wednesday 28th March at Newbury College. For businesses who may want to take part as a recruiter, for more information, please contact dawn@dawnrayconsulting.co.uk (although space is now limited) and for those wanting to visit on the day, for more details on the event itself, please visit the event page on this website for regular updates between now and the end of March.
