Explore the artefacts of an ancient civilization and how they came to Newbury. From a mummified cat’s head, pottery that is twice as old as the pyramids and the intricate memorial of Irtierthai, you will find out about the history of Ancient Egypt. This exhibition also explores how we understand and study Ancient Egypt. You will find examples of Egyptomania and uncover the stories of who brought the collection to Newbury, including the earliest female Egyptologist. Runs 15 November 2023 – 18 November 2024.
