Treasure has a long and interesting history. From the Romans to now there has been different meanings to the word, both physical and abstract. This talk by Dr Philip Smither looks at how Treasure has changed through the centuries, what it means today and how finds from West Berkshire fit into this picture. Dr Philip Smither is the Finds Liaison Officer for Berkshire. His main role is to record archaeological objects found by members of the public, primarily metal detectorists. He is also a Roman object specialist, currently researching Late Roman military objects and coins. Bookings close at 4pm the day before the talk.
