An exhibition at Newmarket Racecourse on Saturday aims to help local people make the switchover from analogue to digital TV.

The switch, which is due to take place in early 2011, will mean that existing analogue TV equipment will not work after the signal is no longer transmitted and any users will need to switch to new digital receivers.

Hughes, a local electrical company, will be hosting the exhibition at the Millennium Grandstand at the Racecourse throughout Saturday 2nd October to inform local families of the urgency of the switchover.

Bob Saucier from Hughes, explained: “The digital switchover is a very real and imminent event that will affect the Sandy Heath transmission area and eventually, the whole country. We want to ensure that our customers are fully educated and prepared for the change-over.

“This event will allow us to reach a large number of people and hopefully make the digital switchover a less daunting prospect for them.”
