The new director of the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket, Chris Garibaldi, will oversee a move to the Palace House stables and a new development to tell the story of Newmarket's royal heritage.
Chris, who previously worked for the Royal Collection, outlined that Newmarket had a rich history of royal connections and felt that should be celebrated at the museum's new location.
Commenting yesterday, he explained: “One of the great stories we should be telling is Newmarket’s royal history. The court came to Newmarket twice a year during Charles II’s reign in the 17th century. James I also had a palace in the High Street. We will be doing whatever we can to bring that to people’s attention.”
