A brand new bridge that spans the gap over Reach Lode has been lowered into place by a crane over the weekend.
The new bridge will become part of Lodes Way, a 15km public route created by the National Trust that will be traffic free and allow local people from Newmarket to enjoy the local countryside.
The bridge, alongside a 2km cycleway, will be officially opened on the 12th September and provides easy access for walker, cyclists and horse riders to Lodes Way and the surrounding areas.
The Lodes Way is being developed by The National Trust as part of their ongoing Wicken Fen Vision, a century long project to create a landscape scale nature reserve within Cambridgeshire, expected to be completed by 2014.
