A new sports pavilion was opened in Newmarket over the weekend at Severals Green.
The £660,000 project is part of a scheme that aims to bring cricket and other sports back to the green and was funded by Darley Stud Management, the horse breeding firm headed by the ruler of Dubai, Shiekh Mohammed.
Peter Amos from Darley outlined that the Sheikh wished to provide Newmarket with a facility for sports in the future and was recommended at the Severals Green site by the Council.
The new grass wicket will host its first match in early June and it will also be used for other sports and functions in Newmarket in the future.
