Proposals to increase parking rates in Newmarket have been put on hold until after next year's council elections.
Forest Heath District Council was planning to increase charges for car parking within Newmarket in a hope to offset a predicted £100,000 shortfall on car parks across the town.
A report, compiled by the Council, outlined that fewer people were using the car parks and as such, they would not break even before the end of the financial year.
Councillor Geofrrey Jaggard explained: “It is quite a difficult situation to get your mind around. We need to wait and see where we get to at the end of the year.”
