If you are central to Newmarket, or looking to buy a new home in next few years in the area, you may be aware of the plans to develop housing and retail space on Fordham Road in the town.
The battle is still on, with councillors and some locals fearing a dilution in the racing industry should the plans go ahead, fighting against those that believe Newmarket needs to extra housing and commercial opportunities that the plans are looking to provide, to include everyone and not just the racing community.
The divide has meant solid and thought-provoking arguments have come from both sides, and so research and survey material has been and will continue to be carried out over the summer to see where the best solution lies.
