County councillors announced plans this week for an in-depth probe to be launched to investigate why so many areas in Newmarket and Norfolk are still stuck in the internet slow lane.
The EDP reported earlier this year how many parts of Norfolk were suffering from poor broadband coverage, with East Anglia being left out of recent plans by BT to roll-out their 'superfast' services across the UK.
The council outlined that many areas of Newmarket still have no or very slow broadband access and businesses within the area could be suffering as a result.
Following lobbying by families and local businesses, members of the council will form a working party to investigate the issue and attempt to seek a solution that will help both domestic and business users obtain a standard of service similar to that of neighbouring regions.
