The Guineas Centre in Newmarket has gone into receivership this week after the company that manages it went into administration.
Whilst business continues as normal for traders within the centre at present, Centenary Asset Management who operate the centre on behalf of Forest Heath District Council have called in property consultants Allsop LLP to manage the receivership.
Plans to extend the centre over Market Square were halted earlier in the year due to the worsening economic situation nationwide.
A spokesperson for Forest Heath District Council outlined: “Forest Heath District Council is working with the receivers to protect its interest in The Guineas and we are, obviously, keeping a close eye on the situation."
“The performance of the centre and its traders is sound and our town centre manager is working with other partners to encourage a diverse range of shops to open in Newmarket.”
