Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.
The story is set in medieval Paris and centers around Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, who dreams of experiencing life beyond his bell tower.
The musical delves into themes of acceptance, love, and heroism as Quasimodo develops a profound connection with Esmeralda, a kind and free-spirited gypsy.
Despite the efforts of his guardian, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, to keep him isolated, Quasimodo ventures out into the world, leading to a series of tragic and transformative events.
The narrative explores the complexities of human nature and the search for compassion and understanding in a prejudiced society.
