R. Green & Son Ltd family butchers has a well-deserved reputation for providing Morpeth and surrounding areas of Northumberland with high quality meat for over a century.
Established in 1888, we are proud to remain as a traditional family butchers. Despite many changes over the years, we are still providing the same quality and service that was available in those early days. We aim to sell the very best quality meat that is available at local level (Northumbrian) in order to sustain the trust which we have established with all of our customers.
We have accredited membership to the EBLEX quality standard scheme for both beef and lamb, which ensures quality from farm to fork. We see beef as the most important product as it is still the most consumed meat. Our experience has shown that the best results are obtained by using only the finest Northumbrian beef, selected by our trusted wholesalers, and then hung for at least three weeks to ensure maximum taste and tenderness of the meat. We source our lamb and pork from farms not more than ten miles from our shops.
Our own home made sausages and burgers are widely acclaimed and often a feature with many pubs and restaurants as "Mr. Greens", and are a meat brand that many in Northumberland will have tasted.
We also produce our home cured bacon which is proving to be very popular as many people have identified the true taste if bacon "how it should be".
