If you were looking for me yesterday evening, you would have found me lazing in a Jacuzzi, alternately watching a duck swim in and out of the reeds in the pond, and looking up at the star–studded sky (well, the star-lights on the ceiling – and very effective they are too).
I was a guest at Imagine Spa Blofield Heath, one of my bestofnorwich clients. Now, usually when you visit a client, you don’t end up in slippers and fluffy robe, but last night I was invited to try out their facilities with a friend.
I was trying to work out which would be nicer – enjoying the spa on a twilit winter’s evening – all warm, cosy and pampered, or on a sunny afternoon, laying out on the recliners in the peaceful garden, making the most of the sun in between dips in the Jacuzzi, steam rooms and treatments, and thought “Why not do both?”
This is a place that you could easily pop in once a month, whether with a group of friends or for a romantic break. Perfect for taking time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
They have even started coffee mornings and BBQ evenings for the sociable amongst us.
This is a bijou spa, so you could easily book in a group of friends and have the place to yourself.
There is a thermal suite, a mud serail chamber – a private room big enough for two, where you can smother yourselves in mud and then shower it away, a dry floatation bed – which purportedly has the same benefit as 6 hours sleep, a relaxation room, garden, treatment rooms, and a restaurant. Personally I like the steam rooms the best. The hotter steam room sprouts a salt shower at the press of a button – perfect for clearing the remnants of a cold.
My friend fell in love with the dry floatation bed – after half an hour on this bed, she looked like she could just fall asleep.
We had arrived at the spa at 5pm for the Twilight Spa Experience, and spent some time in the thermal suite, before going up for our treatment.
We had both opted for facials and had the choice of having the facial in a separate room, or together. We ended up in a room together, but it wouldn’t actually have made any difference as we were both so zoned out, there was not a peep to be heard. We were too busy enjoying the hot towels gently placed over our face, and the head massage during the half hour treatment.
The treatments were followed by a meal. We had pre-ordered on arrival, and the chefs had prepared the food fresh for us whilst we were having our treatments.
The thing I love about this spa is the restaurant area. There are just two tables – a smaller, more intimate table for couples, and a larger one for groups. You can watch the chefs in the kitchen as you eat and the service is very attentive. The food is wonderfully fresh and healthy.
The spa very cleverly times the treatments and food so that you feel that you are getting a very personal, exclusive use of the spa.
The staff are attentive, but discreet, the design is luxurious without being intimidating and everything is spotlessly clean.
They certainly know how to make the customer feel special. For all this luxury and pampering, you would think that you would pay the earth, but the prices are very affordable.
Twilight Spa Experiences cost £45 per person on a weekday and £55 on a weekend.
The Twilight Spa Experiences are available from 5pm to 9pm every Wednesday to Friday and include:
4 hours using the luxurious thermal suite
A 30 minute spa treatment of your choice.
Complimentary drink on arrival and
Use of a robe, towel and slippers
There are monthly offers, so it is worth checking their offers page.
