Car insurance costs for young drivers have increased in the last few years with the average for a 17-22 year old man between £2000 - £3000.
For many young people that's a price they just can't afford.
According to the BBC's Inside Out, there could be a quarter of a million young drivers on our roads without insurance.
David Whitely of Inside Out investigates why the costs are so high and how young people can find an affordable way to stay legal on the road.
