A "Heritage Week" will be taking place at Burscough Wharf from June20 to 26, with the event aiming to celebrate the importance of both the wharf and the Leeds - Liverpool Canal to Burscough and the surrounding area.
Attractions are set to include visiting barges, topical entertainment, historically themed talks, displays and local crafts, and organisers are hoping to make this into an annual event on the Burscough calendar.
During the week schools from the area will be visiting the wharf, then at the weekend activities will be aimed at entertaining the general public.
Geoff Draper of organisers "Burscough Village and Canal heritage Group" is keen to hear from anyone with canal memorabilia that they would be happy to have featured during the event. Geoff can be contacted on 01704 893634
