January sees the return of Martin Mere's popular "Wild Swans By Floodlight" evenings, which will take place every Tuesday during the month, starting on January 5th. The event is ideal for families and groups, and starts at 6.30 pm, running through until 8 pm.
There are currently record numbers of close to 2,000 Whooper swans on the Mere, making this event a truly rare opportunity to see such a large number of wild swans in their natural environment. Visitors can watch the wild swans as well as ducks from the comfort of a heated observatory, whilst taking in the fascinating commentary from the centre's wardens, who will also be happy to answer any questions.
For tickets (priced at £7.55 for adults, £5.85 for concessions and £3.90 for children) contact Lucy on 01704 891220 to make your bookings.
So, why not get along to Burscough one of these bright January evenings and enjoy one of our great local natural attractions.
