INTRODUCING WHITTINGTON CASTLE
Whittington Castle is a strikingly picturesque castle on the outskirts of Oswestry, Shropshire. The castle's romantic ruins are steeped in much history with tales of bitter border warfare, romance and legend.
The castle is perhaps unique in being owned and run by the local community trust. Whittington Castle is set in about 12 acres of ground and is the remains of a stunning Norman home.

THE LADY ELEANOR FUNCTION ROOM
The Lady Eleanor Function Room is situated in the South tower and for many centuries this served as the manor courthouse. The room is named after Lady Eleanor who helped to turn the castle into a more comfortable home in the 14th century.
Luscious hand painted silk velvet, wall hangings adorn the walls. Created for the Lady Eleanor Room by Shrewsbury based textile designer, Meg Arrol.

CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTIES - PRINCESS & KNIGHT
Hugely popular, these parties a really unusual way to celebrate a birthday. The castle also provide costumes for the parents to dress up and ask for a willing volunteer to act as a smelly peasant or spy who gets put in the stocks!! Great fun for all!!
You can send your servants on a series of tasks :), get them hunting for your missing treasure by following a series of clues. Each child is given a fun themed party bag and parties last 2 hours. All you bring is the cake and candles!!
ATTRACTIVE & RELAXING TEAROOM
Why not have a cup of tea or piece of cake in the Castle Tearoom. Freshly prepared sandwiches, home-made soups, locally produced ice-cream!
Also, the castle are happy to cater for meetings, birthday parties, functions and civil ceremonies.
GIFT SHOP & SECOND-HAND BOOKSHOP
Pick up a bargain at the Castle Bookshop or a souvenir to take back home. There's great selection of gifts as well as themed items suitable for children including swords and helmets for prospective Knights or Damsel headresses and purses for the ladies!
Donations of second hand books are always welcome - all proceeds help to maintain this important historic monument.
LOOKING TO HOST A PRIVATE FUNCTION?
Whittington Castle makes the ideal location to host a private function. Ideally situated with car parking. The Castle is available for Private Functions and has a number of rooms available for hire for:
SPOOKY & PARANORMAL EVENTS
Whittington Castle oftens hosts popular ghostly investigations and spooky evenings of magic and mystery. There may be seances, vigils and even use of paranormal detecting equipment.

MEDIEVAL RE-ENACTORS
The castle also regularly hosts some great re-enacting groups such as The House of the Blackstar who create an authentic medieval encampment.
