Crumbs! A positive embarrassment of riches on the table for you this August, with a whole raft of courses and workshops to get your creative itch scratched. I’ve listed the courses by venue, rather than date.

Monday 18th August 1:30 – 4:30pm – Chess Games (Free drop in event)
Monday 18th August 2-4pm Learn to make Chinese Shadow Puppets £5.00 (includes light refreshments and materials)– all ages welcome. Please book your place with library staff
Friday 15th August - Social Steps – confidence building through communication skills 15-18yrs. Free event but please book your place with library staff
Tuesday 19th August 3-4pm - Origami session .Free event but please book your place with library staff
Friday 29th August through the day – Come on and Knit. Whether a beginner or improver. All ages welcome Free drop-in event.

Workshops for grown ups. All workshops include lunch and refreshments. All materials are provided. Each workshop has a maximum of five places
Saturday 16th August/ Sunday 17th August 10 to 6pm– Spinning for Beginners (£40.00) Learning how to sort a sheep fleece, how to card wool and how spin using a spinning wheel.
Saturday 23rd August/Sunday 24th August 9 – 5pm. Memory Blanket/Bear £35.00. Using old or recycled baby clothes to create blankets and soft toys, including how to use a sewing machine, an overlocker, pattern cutting, fabric cutting, pinning, tacking and patchwork.
Saturday 30th August/Sunday 31st August 10 to 4pm. Knitting for beginners. Learn how to cast on, knit basic stitches, follow a pattern and cast off.
Children’s workshops, aged between 8 – 12. Workshops re £5/hour or £20/full session. Lunch and refreshments provided and maximum numbers are 10 per workshop.
Thursday 14th August 10 – 2pm. Learn how spin your own yarn from sheep’s wool.
Tuesday 19th August . Make your own soft toys
Thursday 21st August. How to make a fabric purse or wallet.
Tuesday 26th August. Design and make key rings.
Thursday 28th August. Upcyle pre-loved fabrics into fabulous bags

A truly fascinating exhibition – ‘A Time of Change’ featuring exquisite embroidered pieces and artwork from the very talented members of the Guild of Embroiderers (Oswestry and District Branch). To accompany the exhibition we are running a number of workshops through August.
Monday 18th August 2-4pm. Writing Workshop with Simon Fletcher, poet and novelist. Join Simon in this month’s Writing Masterclass responding to the fabulous ‘ATime of Change Exhibition’ at Qube. £7.50 per session (£5.00 concessions). Advanced booking required. Telephone: 01691 656882.
Wednesday 20th/27th August and 3rd September. 10 – 12pm. Embroidery for Beginners Workshop. Learn the basics behind embroidery. Experiment with different stitches, textures and materials – what will you create? £5.00 per person including materiels. Please book with Qube.
Saturday 16th, 23rd and 30th August 10-12pm – Free Embroidery Demo Drop In – Every Saturday during ‘A Time of Change’ Exhibition, some of the artists will be here to demonstrate the methods behind their works and talk about their pieces.
