After a successful Charity Market in June, Qube and Oswestry Town Council will be holding another volunteer recruitment and fundraising event on Friday 7th September which will take place on the Bailey Head.

Local people are invited to attend this free event to find out what activities and community groups operate locally. “There’s always a lot of interest, people often don’t realise what services are available and what support is out there.” Said Kim Thompson-Lawrence, Qube’s BBO Volunteering Officer.

There will be variety of charities and community groups attending the event including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Alzheimer’s Society, Shropshire Cat Rescue and Hope House. Qube’s Volunteering Team will also be there to talk to anyone interested in volunteering. Kim Thompson-Lawrence said: “Volunteering is a great way help local people get involved in local activities whilst developing your skills and experience. A lot of people use volunteering to get back to work, build their confidence or have a career change.”

The Oswestry Charity Market is partly funded through the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme, a £3million funded project supporting communities across Shropshire.  Funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund, Building Better Opportunities is investing in local projects across England, tackling the root causes of unemployment, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth.

The Charity Market takes place on Friday 7th September at the Bailey Head, Oswestry from 9am to 2pm. For more information contact Qube on 01691 656882.
