One of Shropshire’s largest law firms has recorded its best ever set of annual figures with an increase in turnover of more than five per cent, taking the firm’s turnover to over £9.2m.
Lanyon Bowdler has reported growth across the company during the 2015/16 financial year, with almost all of its specialist areas seeing an increase in turnover.
Particular areas of success include commercial property, corporate and commercial, employment, clinical negligence and private client work.
Brian Evans, who became managing partner in May, said the firm was increasing its market share in Shropshire and Herefordshire by delivering on its promise to provide first-rate legal advice and exceptional service to its clients.
He said: “These latest financial figures are excellent, and from a personal point of view I am excited about having become managing partner at a time of significant growth for the firm.
“The new financial year started with the addition of Beaumonts Solicitors offices in Hereford and Bromyard so it is great to see our office network developing as well.
“It has been fantastic to see growth right across our broad range of specialisms, with both commercial and private client areas performing very well.
“Our criminal department has had a solid year and has undertaken a lot of environmental and regulatory work, particularly for agricultural clients, as well as building on its specialism in motoring work.
“Our dedicated sector teams supporting clients in education and agriculture have also been expanding, and local schools, colleges and academies are responding very positively to the offer of lawyers with extensive education experience who are based locally.
“It really is a tale of success across all of our departments and the firm as a whole is feeling very positive.”
Lanyon Bowdler was recently named among the top 200 performing law firms in the country, being the only firm with its headquarters in Shropshire to be included in The Lawyer UK 200 report for 2014/15.
The report ranks law firms in terms of annual turnover and other business statistics, and Brian said the figures for the 2015/16 financial year showed the firm had built on those solid foundations.
He said: “The continued success of the firm is testament to the strategic vision established some years ago to recruit the very best legal professionals who are genuine specialists in their field.
“What has been particularly heartening over the past year is how much work we are seeing from the local area which might otherwise have gone to bigger firms in Birmingham or other cities.
“People are beginning to realise that they can get just as high a standard of expertise but delivered by warm, friendly and accessible lawyers on their doorstep. That’s not just good news for Lanyon Bowdler as a firm, but the local economy as well.”
