Oswestry-based small press, Offa’s Press, is bringing out a new anthology of environmental poetry, We’re All in This Together, at Oswestry Library on Wednesday, 17 October.
“This is the first anthology of environmental poetry from the West Midlands and features a number of Shropshire poets,” commented Simon Fletcher, Offa’s Press manager. “We are delighted with the outcome and feel sure poetry-lovers in the region are in for a treat. Much of the poetry reflects the current anxieties about climate change but there are also quiet celebrations of place and time.”
Editors Jane Seabourne and Nick Pearson have run workshops and scoured the West Midlands, supported by Arts Council England, for the best in contemporary work and the anthology includes some well-known writers including Dave Reeves, Brenda Read-Brown, Chris Kinsey and Jeff Phelps.
Apart from the Oswestry launch there are also events planned at Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Leominster Library.
The free event starts at 7pm and refreshments will be provided. All welcome.
