Great news for Oswestry that the Powis Hall indoor market has won the national competition run by MyDeco and The Times. The much sought-after prize is a re-design by top, top designers in icluding Terence Conran.
To say we can't wait is an understatement.
The level of funds are involved remains to be seen.
But what is positive, is the publicity this brings to a once great market hall, and if you've seen the pictures of the original market hall, it was once very attractive.
What can be done to bring Powis Hall up to scratch and beyond?
Well, I am hoping that the designers will ask some fundamental questions of the market, not only about the lack of light, and the colour scheme, but the outside of the hall to make it welcoming to visitors and locals alike who come to Bailey Head.
They might all have some suggestions for what would make the market stand out as an attraction that wold serve to bring people into the town.
So, really looking forward to seeing what occurs next!
All the best
John
