A Shropshire company which delivers award winning NHS services across the UK today announced plans to increase its workforce by more than 40 per cent.
Oswestry-based Physiological Measurements Ltd urgently needs to recruit more staff after seeing demand for its services soar with more GPs than ever referring patients for treatment.
Now a recruitment open day is being held on May 1 for people to find out about the jobs as well as the work that the company does.
Six PMC administrators and sales and marketing administrators are being taken on over the next 12 months which will increase the workforce from eight to 14.
Company bosses said this was the first in a series of potential expansion plans as the success of the Physiological Measurements brand spread across the UK.
It comes just one week after PML launched their Community Echocardiogram Service at The Old Malt House in Oswestry.
It means patients referred by their GP for an echocardiogram can attend the local clinic rather than a hospital. Clinics are run on Mondays from 10am to 7pm and Tuesdays from 8am to 4pm.
Hannah Dark, business manager at the company, said: “This is a really exciting time for us.
“Business has grown so much since we first started nearly eight years ago. We are at the forefront in helping deliver NHS reforms and improve services for patients.
“The Community Echocardiogram Service includes free parking to patients or a bus stop within 10 metres of the premises.
“As a patient you are able to benefit from a waiting list of less than two weeks and we are able to have results returned to your referring GP within five days of appointment which obviously makes it a popular option.
“PML has built a name for providing first class services for both the health organisations we work with and the public.
“Now we have decided to take on extra staff to help our motivated award-winning team to build on the success and to increase our business even further.
“We are hoping to attract some exceptional candidates who want to help us to continue to provide a professional service as well as high quality experiences and care for patients.
“The success of the business could really put Oswestry on the map in terms of choice within the NHS, for medical screening and within the fitness industry.”
The recruitment open day will give people a chance to have a tour of the Oswestry head office and to meet existing staff.
Miss Dark said: “We want the new PMC administrators to have excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively.
“Excellent communication skills are key to the sales/marketing administrator jobs.
“Candidates should be preferably familiar with customer relationship management software and ideally have a sales/marketing background.”
Physiological Measurements Ltd, which also sells medical equipment, provides a number of services, including medical screening and testing for elite sports stars at The Lab - its state-of-the-art sports injury and performance clinic on Willow Street.
It also has an NHS referral centre for echocardiograms where people can go for medical tests or scans after being sent by a GP to increase patient choice and to avoid waiting lists at hospitals.
PML also delivers services from existing GP surgeries, health centres and Community Hospitals across the UK and has won five national awards for the quality and success of its services.
Miss Dark said: “We are finding that more and more GPs are referring their patients to us for ultrasound scans.
“Locally patients now have a choice between walking to our base in Willow Street and having an appointment in the same week or perhaps having to wait several weeks for a similar appointment at a hospital in Shropshire.
"We are a stress-free option with free car-parking and because it is not a hospital environment patients feel more relaxed and there is a high chance you will get a cup of tea!"
