It seems like a decade ago when the competition for the mydeco redesign of the Powis Market Hall took place. Goodness me, there was a lot of work went into winning the competition from all parts of town - AND WE DID IT - WE WON!
But what had we won? Well, after a year's waiting, Oswestry Town Council have received the new designs, and perhaps it fair to say they are more of a make-over. I suppose this was down to the budget restrictions.
The makeover involves a new colour scheme of blue and white, a change of floor colouring, standardisation of signage, fascia changes and a roof full of kites.
Whilst it may not have been the radical redesign we were hoping for, on the other hand, it is doable, it is affordable, it will clean and freshen up the market place and it leaves some financial scope for additional changes which I hope will include work to the frontage to make it more attractive to shoppers walking up Bailey Street.
I hope that, once all the work has been costed, and a Project Plan is put in place, that we can have a new, fresh looking, Powis Market Hall, more attractive to traders and shoppers alike, which can be energetically promoted and we should be proud too, of the Conran Connection - it was something we all worked for, so it'll be great to see it come into being.
To the next chapter of the Powis Market Hall story...
A quick introduction - I'm John Waine, Director of TheBestOfOswestry. Having lived in this beautiful area for around 20 years now, I have decided to stay. :)
With kind thanks
