The New Saints FC are inviting young Shropshire footballers to try out for a place in their prestigious Academy. The open trial for boys aged between eight and 16-years-old begins on 18 April and continues until 13 May at The Venue at Park Hall, Oswestry.
Head of youth development, Scott Ruscoe, said: “It’s important to introduce youngsters to the Academy system as early as possible to get them into good habits. Kids are very receptive between the ages of eight and 11, so our coaches are able to mould their playing style. This is an elite programme and we’re looking for the best.
The Academy has improved year on year and our links with English premier league sides is particularly strong at the moment, with scouts showing interest in our Academy players. Playing recently against the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City continues to challenge and develop our young players.”
The Academy boss also adds that a complete infrastructure is in place to look after young players: “We ask a lot of our players, but we can offer them excellent back-up in terms of coaching, medical treatment, welfare and progression. This is a good place for aspiring professional footballers to be and certainly any local boy should be coming here.”
To apply for a place in the trial to join the Academy squad email scottruscoe7@hotmail.co.uk with the boy’s name, date of birth and playing experience to date or call 07811 286439.
