Wilfred Owen Festival - Folk and Fiddles

An evening of Folk Music by local talented singers, songwriters and musicians and including performances with instruments from the Wilfred Owen String Quartet.

Mair Thomas. Mair is an Oswestry based guitar playing singer songwriter. A

talented performer, Mair can sing in Welsh or English, favouring melodic, easy listening folk, her sound has been compared to that of Eva Cassidy, Carole King, and Janis Ian.

Phoebe Rees. A musician, singer and songwriter. An acclaimed fiddle and viola player she draws her inspiration from a diverse range of musical genres and cultures, predominantly combining elements of Celtic, English and American Folk traditions into her music making. Phoebe performs her own compositions along with interpretations of material by other artists close to her heart.

Jock Tyldesley & Vera van Heeringen. They play traditional Cajun music, Southern Appalachian tunes, songs, fiddle and banjo breakdowns as well as old-time country music, including original songs and tunes. They have toured internationally with US artists such as Dirk Powell, Eddie LeJeune and Balfa Toujours, and were members of The New Rope String Band, a long-standing comedy tour-de-force of the international folk scene.
